A minimum of 5 years Youth Work experience and a Letter of Recommendation from eligible association member. Letter of Recommendation Current Postgraduate Program including experience, e.g. Masters in Youth Work in combination with a minimum of 3 years youth work experience Masters in Youth Services Management with a minimum of 3 years specific youth work experience Masters in Childhood and Youth Studies with a minimum of three years specific youth work experience Exemplary Practitioner Experience 20 years of continual youth work experience and 2 letters of industry standing by 2 Professional Association members. A Sunset Clause of ten years to enable a choice of becoming eligible through one of the work/study pathways or losing eligibility (Sunset Clause means that this is a time limited membership category of 10 years from the date of membership). 20 years of continual youth work experience combined with industry recognition through any of the following:<br/>• 5 years of board membership of a state-wide industry, or national youth advocacy/policy body<br/>• Senior position of policy and management for a minimum of 7 years Overseas qualifications in youth work will be assessed on a case by case basis. Currently equivalence will be recognised with all National Youth Associations accredited Diploma and degree courses in the UK, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland PhD An applicant that has completed a PhD in Youth Work that is supervised by a registered Professional Association Member will be granted eligibility to full membership Exemptions Granted on Social Justice Grounds
Applicants may apply for full membership having completed a Diploma of Youth Work on the grounds that they have experienced significant barriers to completion of a degree or further study.
The exemption will have a sunset clause of 5 years from date of the granting of the application. Grounds for exemption include: Living in a remote community Barriers based on culture, gender or disrupted education due to health. These barriers have meant that access to further education has been limited. This may include geography, child rearing responsibilities, financial hardship and ill health.
